There are so many firsts in my life right now. This picture of my marvellous wife and me was taken at the Salon du Livre LGBTQIA+ de Metz, organised by Couleurs Gaies, last month. I was both anxious and excited, and I should have known Isabelle and Gaëlle of Reines de Cœur (the French publisher of L’Hôtel de la Voie lactée) would make everything easy for my first time meeting readers and signing their books. Everything about that weekend was awesome! I was worried about signing because I’m socially awkward and the combo of dyspraxia and tendinitis means writing is hit or miss. In the end, however, it all went great and everybody seemed happy. And I also got to wear my brand new kilt—a dream of mine since I graduated from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (Scotland) over thirty years ago.
