Off the Rails – Rachel Lacey

On a backdrop of book pages, an iPad with the cover of the Off the Rails by Rachel Lacey. At the bottom of the image, a strip of torn paper with a quote: "Cute, funny, and hot." and a URL: judeinthestars.com.

This novella was first published as part of the Love Is All anthology. Two women sit next to each other every day on the train back home but neither has ever dared talk to the other. Until one evening when both catch a much later train.

I always try not to give away too much in my reviews, which for novellas isn’t easy since they’re so short. I don’t want to reveal much about the characters, as finding out about each other is a big part of the story. I’ll say they’re both lovely, with very different personalities, one’s an extrovert and the other one gets lost in her own head. There are whales and very interesting facts about them (but no infodumping). Also, communication is sexy. And the story itself is cute, funny, and hot. 4.5⭐️
