I’d read so many raving reviews that maybe I was expecting too much.
This is a very good book but it didn’t wow me. I really enjoyed the story once I managed to get into it. That took some time but for the best reason: the world-building is excellent and I had to get used to it. I also loved the whole treasure hunt side.
I’m looking forward to book 2 now.

It took me a while too, and although it did feel a bit like a ‘paint-by-the-numbers’ adventure, I wanted to know what happened next (in book 2) which is a good metric, I reckon. 🙂
