Harper doesn’t do casual. She’d like to, but feelings seem to always get in the way. At least that’s what she thinks. She’s only ever had one relationship, with a closeted girl, so maybe the problem wasn’t that Harper wanted more but that her ex wasn’t ready (nor willing) to give it to her. Nix, on the other hand, is not looking for a relationship. So why can’t she stay away from Harper?

Not Today is the first book I read by Arizona Tape, and I’m glad I got the chance to discover a new (to me) author. The writing is very good, I could easily visualize the scenes. The only thing I didn’t like about the way the story is written is the use of « the brunette » or « the blonde » when they have perfectly good names.
Both main characters are sweet in different ways, both still growing into the adults they barely are. Harper is an overthinker with pretty low self-esteem (she can thank her ex for that), Nix is both tough and not as laid-back as she wants others to believe. She’s also dealing with an awful family and a crazy ex. Tape does a really good job of describing the doubts that often come with new relationships, and the insecurities of these first years as adults. There are also a few secondary characters I wouldn’t mind getting to know better. I’m definitely looking forward to more of these stories!
