Wow. I’m not sure what I expected but this book took me much further than I thought it would.
The first chapters were difficult to listen to, as the beginning of the story is very violent and painful but it has to be for Jesse to become who she is. Nothing is gratuitous. I’m glad I kept going. Also, the narrator’s voices for the various characters were really great.
