2024 – My Favourite Audiobooks of the Year

Jude's Favourite Audiobooks 2024 written over a picture of the LEGO Books Are My Passion set with an added figurine.

A funny thing happened this year. Maybe not funny but certainly unexpected. My focus left me. As I explained in my Favourite Books of the Year post, I ended up reading way fewer books than usual, and, even more unexpected, for the first time, I listened more than I read. I’m a visual person, a visual learner, and getting to enjoy audiobooks came as a complete surprise when I first started, yet in 2024, my brain decided that reading with my eyes would be a lot more difficult than with my ears. Audiobooks are also the perfect excuse to build Legos, so I’m really not complaining.

As you’ll see, a couple of narrators—the majestic Abby Craden and the super talented and overall beautiful human Quinn Riley, aka Jeremy Carlisle Parker—are overrepresented in the following list, which gives an inaccurate image of what I loved this year. The list is limited to audiobooks released in 2024, but I listened to many excellent older ones as well. You’ll find them below the official enumeration.

For all these audiobooks, I got codes from authors or publishers for some of them, I got review copies through Libro.fm—if you don’t know Libro.fm yet, look them up, they’re wonderful and by purchasing through them, you’ll be supporting the indie bookshop of your choice—or NetGalley for others, I paid for several, I was gifted a couple by generous readers… However I got to listen to them, if they’re on the list, it’s because I loved them.

Click on the images below to read my thoughts on each title, in chronological order of when I reviewed them.

I also enjoyed these audiobooks released in 2022 and 2023 a lot, and I’m grateful I made time for them: Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick, narrated by Natalie Naudus; Guava Flavored Lies by J.J. Arias, narrated by Carrie Coello; The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes, narrated by Karla Serrato; I Dare You to Love Me by Lori G. Matthews, narrated by Ellie Gossage; Margo Zimmerman Gets the Girl by Brianna R. Shrum & Sara Waxelbaum, narrated by Marli Watson & Kristen DiMercurio; Fly with Me by Andie Burke, narrated by Chelsea Stephens; Sorry, Bro by Taleen Voskuni, narrated by Christine Mirzayan.
